What You'll Learn

Shoulder pain can stop you from doing simple things like reaching for a coffee cup, throwing a ball with your kids, or sleeping through the night. When the shoulder pain is from arthritis and there is a rotator cuff tear, reverse total shoulder replacement surgery might be the answer. There are a lot of misconceptions about this groundbreaking surgery, and this seminar is being presented to clarify this.

Doctor Butzen will explain how this surgery works and who it is for. He'll walk through what happens before, during, and after the procedure. You'll learn about recovery time, what results to expect, and how people get back to their activities and life.

This presentation is for anyone dealing with shoulder pain, rotator cuff problems, or shoulder arthritis. It's also helpful if you've been told you need shoulder surgery but want to understand your options better.

About the Presentation

Dr. Butzen will present for 30 minutes, covering the basics of shoulder pain with specific details about reverse total shoulder replacement. No medical jargon - just clear explanations of how the surgery restores shoulder function when other treatments haven't worked.

After the presentation, Doctor Butzen will answer your questions live. Plan for at least 15 minutes of Q&A, but he'll stay on as long as needed to answer every question. This is your chance to ask a board-certified shoulder surgeon anything about the procedure, recovery, or how to decide if it is right for you.

Why Reverse Total Shoulder Replacement?

Traditional rotator cuff surgery fixes torn tendons. But some rotator cuff tears are too big to repair. When that happens, reverse total shoulder replacement surgery changes how your shoulder works. It uses your deltoid muscle instead of your damaged rotator cuff to lift your arm. Another indication for this surgery is shoulder arthritis, where the surface of the joint wears out and needs to be replaced.

Dr. Butzen performs more than 100 reverse total shoulder replacements each year at Animas Surgical Hospital in Durango. His patients often regain the ability to lift their arms, reduce pain, and return to activities they thought they'd lost forever.

Who Should Attend

This seminar is perfect for you if:

  • You have shoulder pain that limits your daily activities

  • You've been told you have a rotator cuff tear that can't be repaired

  • A family member is facing shoulder surgery and you want to support them
